Deck Shapes/ Designs

Skateboard decks have not evolved much in comparison to the changes in wheels and trucks, they tend to be a composite wood, plastic or fibre but most commonly wood. The shapes used have not changed much over the last few decades, most boards still resemble a plank with rounded raised ends. This is probably because the shape and material used is very functional; the style skateboards possess is normally adorned through printed graphics. Deck graphics tend to reflect the culture in which the boards are used, long boards often to have laidback graphics and shape reminiscent of surfboards whereas skateboards tend to have a much more chaotic urban aesthetic often with graffiti styling.
